Egyptian Television Broadcasts Traditional Christian Hymns 1/02/2026 (See translation in Arabic section) Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l: Egyptian television has begun uploading hymns and masses to its official YouTube and Facebook platforms to ensure they reach a global audience and Egyptians abroad. Broadcast Occasions: Hymns are typically broadcast during coverage of Christmas and Easter masses, which are broadcast live from the cathedral, as well as during special events such as the "Message of Love and Peace" concert by the St. Joseph Choir, which is broadcast on official channels like Nile Cultural Channel. At the beginning of January, Egyptian television, specifically the "Good Morning Egypt" program, presented traditional Christian hymns, including "A Hymn from the Heart... My Beloved God," sung by Meretia Emad, and a diverse selection of spiritual hymns performed by Mary Lamia. The program also discussed the importance of hymns and the Egyptian Church's commitment to teaching children spiritual hymns. This approach has expanded in recent years. In 2024, a Christmas carol concert was held for the first time at the historic Abdeen Palace and broadcast on Egyptian television channels as part of the celebration of Coptic heritage. The "Good Morning Egypt" program (aired on Channel One and Egyptian Satellite Channel) features regular segments during the holidays, hosting choirs and church groups to perform hymns live. Specialized Channels: While state television (Maspero) focuses primarily on special occasions, several specialized Egyptian Christian channels broadcast on the Nilesat satellite, such as CTV, ME Sat, and Al Karma TV, which broadcast hymns and prayers around the clock. |
