Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l:
Today, the Lebanese army has lost a commander and an officer among its top officers, military history attests to his bravery, strength and toughness. He was attacked by the enemies of the homeland, carrying his weapon and raising his country's flag in defense of Lebanon and the Lebanese.
With grief and sadness, the President of the Orthodox National Council and all Lebanese mourn the hero commander, Dean Alrakin Youssef Al-Tahan, friend, brother and comrade. Everyone you know, you talk about him with respect, esteem and sincerity. He never spared death, and he was a lover of his friends, before serving everyone he intended seeking help and assistance.
He is a flag of Lebanon's flags, an officer of his highest officers, Lebanese origin, despicable and owner of dignity, who does not compromise or exchange his patriotism. Kept his military oath: "Honor, sacrifice, loyalty", and remained loyal to it until the last day of his life.
His memory will remain forever in the hearts, and in the thoughts of his family, relatives, friends and companions, who will miss his presence, greetings and honorable patriotic career. Christ has risen indeed may his remembrance be for ever amen. Lebanese Orthodox National Council
