Community invited to help shape Parramatta’s heritage future 16/02/2026
(See translation in Arabic section)
Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l:
The community is invited to have their say on the City’s Draft Integrated Heritage Strategy, a 10-year framework set to guide Council on preserving, managing and celebrating Parramatta’s heritage.
The Strategy outlines Council’s long-term direction, acknowledging Parramatta’s distinctive community tapestry and heritage alongside ongoing growth.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said these projects are essential for balancing the City’s rapid development with the preservation of its cultural identity.
“Parramatta is a world-class City that is rich in history and heritage,” Cr Zaiter said.
“The Draft Integrated Heritage Strategy is about ensuring we have a clear, sustainable plan to manage our history as we transform into a global City.
“This is the next step in our 10-year plan to better understand the breadth of our heritage, protect and conserve heritage items and places while raising awareness of and celebrating the stories of our past.”
The Heritage Conservation Areas Review is running concurrently and considers existing and proposed new heritage conservation areas in the City.
Both the Draft Integrated Heritage Strategy and Heritage Conservation Review are on public exhibition until 5pm on Friday 3 April 2026.
