President Aoun: The Lebanese Army Will Continue its Role Regardless of the Intensity of Campaigns and Doubts; He Offered Condolences for the Martyrdom of Soldiers During a Drug Trafficker Pursuit.19/11/2025
Sydney – Middle East Times Int'l:
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized on Wednesday that the army will continue to perform its national duty without being deterred by suspicious campaigns, incitement, or doubts, "from whatever source they come, whether internal or external."
Aoun's statement came during a phone call with Army Commander General Rudolph Haykal, during which he offered his condolences for the martyrdom of the two soldiers who were killed last night while pursuing drug traffickers in the Sharawneh neighborhood of Baalbek, and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.
Aoun stated that the army "is once again paying with the blood of its men for protecting Lebanese society from the scourge of drugs and enforcing the law," emphasizing that the two soldiers who were killed "have joined a long line of their comrades who gave their most precious possession in fulfillment of their oath."
He indicated that the military institution, in cooperation with other security agencies, is continuing its pursuit of perpetrators and its efforts to curb crime of all kinds, while simultaneously protecting the borders and extending the authority of the state.
