The Prime Minister's Office confirmed in a media release today that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will visit the United States of America from October 19 to 21 on an official visit hosted by President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C.
The statement stated that Australia and the United States are the strongest allies and closest friends. Our unique relationship is underpinned by a shared vision of peace and security, close economic ties, and deep personal bonds between our two countries.
The visit will be an opportunity to deepen these ties, including in the areas of trade and investment, defense cooperation, and the Australia-United States Military Cooperation Program (AUKUS), as well as the shared goal of maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Minister for Resources and Minister for Northern Australia, Madeleine King, and the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Tim Ayers, will join the Prime Minister's program.
This will be Prime Minister Albanese's seventh visit to the United States as Prime Minister.
Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles will assume the duties of Acting Prime Minister from Prime Minister Albanese's departure until 7 p.m. (AEST) on Tuesday, October 21.
Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong will assume the duties of Acting Prime Minister from 7 p.m. (AEST) on Tuesday, October 21, until Prime Minister Albanese's return.
"Australia and the United States have stood side by side in every major conflict for more than a century," Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a statement.
