Trump highlights daughter Ivanka's marriage to Jared Kushner in speech to Israeli parliament on Gaza peace.By Andrew Feinberg © Reuters14/10/2025 (See translation in Arabic section) Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l: President Donald Trump highlighted Jared Kushner's contributions to the newly announced ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, in an odd sidenote to his son-in-law's marriage to his daughter Ivanka, during his address to the Israeli parliament on Monday. Trump was about three-quarters of the way through his hour-long speech to the Knesset in Jerusalem when he began thanking his administration's negotiating team—Kushner, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio—for their efforts in securing the ceasefire.
(Source: Reuters) After praising Witkoff as a "great negotiator" and "really good at real estate" in the years before he was named a roving presidential envoy, Trump turned his attention to Kushner, who was brought in to help bridge the gap between Israeli negotiators on the deal, even though he had no formal role in the president's second administration. As Kushner looked on from a balcony above the Knesset, Trump said that Kushner, whose family has long been friends with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “really loves Israel.”
“In fact, he loves it so much that my daughter converted to Judaism… I didn’t know that would happen,” he said. Kushner, an observant Jew, married Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, in 2009. She converted to Judaism under the supervision of an Orthodox rabbi before the wedding. Turning to Netanyahu, he joked that the development in Ivanka’s life “didn’t occur to me” before telling members of Knesset that she and Kushner are “very happy.”
“At least, I think they are. And if they’re not, we have a great story, right? They have a great marriage, they get along great. They’re best friends. They have a very special relationship,” he said. Kushner's role in brokering the long-awaited peace deal, which resulted in the return of all 20 living hostages held by Hamas during the October 7 terrorist attacks, follows his work on a series of normalization agreements between Israel and several Gulf Arab states known as the Abraham Accords. Trump added that Kushner's work during his first term was "something very special."
