Statement of Condemnation of the Bombing of Kuwait Airport 4/06/2026 (See translation in Arabic section) Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l: The Australian Council for the Middle East condemns in the strongest terms the bombing that targeted Kuwait Airport. It considers this attack a dangerous and unacceptable act that constitutes a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly State of Kuwait and a direct threat to the security of civilians, the safety of vital installations, and air traffic. This attack is all the more serious and reprehensible given the extensive aid and developmental and humanitarian contributions that the State of Kuwait has provided to Iran over many decades. These contributions have included countless development and service projects, stemming from Kuwait's unwavering commitment to supporting peoples and promoting stability and development. It is regrettable that this outstretched hand of goodwill and assistance has been met with such an unacceptable attack, which contradicts the most basic principles of good neighborliness and relations between states. Targeting airports and civilian facilities cannot be justified under any circumstances. It represents a highly dangerous escalation that threatens the security of Kuwait and the stability of the entire Gulf region, and opens the door to further tension and chaos at a time when the region needs de-escalation, wisdom, and respect for international law. The Council affirms its full solidarity with the State of Kuwait, its leadership, government, and people, and stands with it in all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents. The Council also calls upon the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, unequivocally condemn this attack, and work diligently to prevent the recurrence of such acts that target civilians and vital infrastructure and threaten regional and international security. The bombing of Kuwait International Airport is not merely an attack on a civilian facility, but an attack on the sovereignty of a secure state and on the very principle of security and stability in the entire region. The Council emphasizes that Kuwait's security is an integral part of the security of the Gulf and the region, and that any infringement upon its sovereignty and stability necessitates a firm and unequivocal Arab and international stance. |
