Lebanon - M E Times Int'l: The Australian-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce (AUC) hosted a workshop at the Association of Travel and Tourist Agents on Thursday, June 13, 2019, under the title "Promoting Tourism Exchange between Australia and Lebanon", in the presence of Sako Mardirussian the representative of Tourism Minister and Vanessa Lai the Deputy Head of the Australian Mission in Lebanon in addition to a number of ambassadors, businessmen, owners and representatives of Lebanese travel and tourism agencies.

John Abboud addressing the audience

Jean Abboud, The head of the Association, welcomed the attendance, pointing out that the tourism services sector currently accounts for 341,000,000 Australian dollars of the trade exchange value between the two countries, which is 400,000.000 dollars. He was optimistic about the increase in the tourists number from Australia on the basis of these figures, especially after the return of the Australian airline flights to Beirut airport and the Middle East flights to Sydney and other Australian cities.

Documentary films were displayed and Mr. Rizk, the Chamber’s Head of Relations Department  presented the objectives, aspirations and activities of the Chamber, noting the bilateral relations and the enthusiasm shown by a large number of Australians to visit Lebanon. This stresses the great importance that the Chamber attaches to the development of tourism exchange between the two countries through meetings with the heads of the tourism sector and through a permanent operation room between the Chamber in Australia and the Association of Travel and Tourist Agents in Lebanon.

Finally, Vanessa Lai, The Deputy Head of the Australian Mission in Lebanon, spoke about the cooperation between the Chamber and the Association of Travel Agents, wishing to develop it and expand its circle in all sectors and levels.
