BERRI Meets Akar, Salameh: People's Deposits are Sacred

07 Apr 2020

Lebanon – House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday received at his Ain el-Tineh residence, Vice Prime Minister, National Defense Minister Zeina Akar Adra, with talks reportedly touching on the general situation and most recent political and security developments.

Speaker Berri also met with Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, with whom he discussed the current financial and monetary conditions and ways to safeguard the money of depositors, especially small depositors.

Salameh briefed the Speaker on the measures taken by the Central Bank in this regard.

Berri underlined that people's bank deposits are sacred and cannot be tampered with under any circumstances, noting that legislations especially those of financial nature are issued essentially to protect people and their rights.
