THEMED ‘SOCIETAL PARTICIPATION…COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT,’ IGCF 2017 AGENDA TURNS SPOTLIGHT ON UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

SHARJAH-UAE, March 21, 2017 – His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, will inaugurate the Sixth Edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2017) tomorrow (Wednesday, March 22) at Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme ‘Societal participation…Comprehensive Development’. The IGCF 2017 is being held under the patronage of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, from March 22 to 23, attracting 100 speakers, world leaders, communication experts and more than 2,500 guests. 

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi will also deliver a keynote speech on the occasion highlighting the importance of government communication in enhancing dialogue among governments, institutions and people, and the significance of spreading knowledge and serving sustainable development in the UAE and across the world. IGCF 2017 features world leaders, top officials and experts from 17 countries, with six keynote speeches, seven key sessions, six conversation panels, five workshops, and three interactive sessions.

The high-profile personalities participating in the Forum from the UAE and abroad include world statesmen, five UAE ministers, two Nobel Prize laureates, in addition to representatives of international organisations as well as public and private-sector officials. Winners of the fourth edition of the Sharjah Government Communication Award (GCA 2017) will also be announced at a special ceremony tomorrow, March 22 at Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah.

The Sixth Edition of IGCF features more than 2,500 participants, including heads of states, prime ministers, thought leaders, government officials, communication experts, leaders of regional and international organisations, civil society groups, research centres, journalists, and media and communication students from across the UAE and GCC countries.
