MUSCAT: The Higher Committee for Oman University Project yesterday reviewed various issues related to the project, followed up implementation of the recommendations and decisions made at the committee’s earlier meeting. The meeting, held under the chairmanship of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tareq al Said, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan, Head of the Committee, also reviewed latest developments and achievements on the project.

A visual presentation was presented on the special recommendations for the proposed scientific research plan, the mechanism for its implementation, three scientific fields designated for the university, namely energy, sustainability, design, technology, medical sciences and public health.

The proposed scientific research plan to be implemented during the first stage of the university’s operations has 12 research domains including renewable energy, exploring minerals, public health, public health services, health e-services, contagious and non-contagious diseases, medicines development, transport, marine sciences, fisheries, agriculture, food production, water resources treatment, mineral treatment, production and developing the IT systems and digital media for Arab language use.

A visual presentation on distribution of students for various scientific programmes, proposed for the first stage of the university’s operation, was presented.
