MP Al-Omair urges immediate control on internet prices

Friday,15 July 2011

KUWAIT: MP Ali Al-Omair urged the government to shoulder its responsibilities and monitor internet service providers, as well as controlling the high prices for such services. The lawmaker emphasized that prices need to be reconsidered in order to be affordable for all segments of society.

Speaking to reporters, MP Al-Omair said that the numerous remarks expressed by lawmakers regarding the performance of internet companies should motivate the government in finding creative solutions to address the complaints and regulate internet services.

Al-Omair added that the suggestions by MPs of imposing annual nominal fees on internet services are good and should be worth consideration. The lawmaker said that he supports any proposals that help subscribers.
