Prince Alwaleed Receives Letter from Ugandan President

HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), received at his office in Riyadh, HE Dr. Rashid Ssemuddu, Ugandan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Hassna Alturki, Executive Manager for International Relations to HRH the Chairman and Mr. Ahmed Altubaishi, Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.

The meeting began as the Ugandan Ambassador thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving him the opportunity to meet with him. During the meeting, HRH and the Ambassador discussed a number of social, economic and humanitarian issues. In addition, the Ambassador handed Prince Alwaleed a letter from HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda.

Furthermore, Dr. Ssemuddu said he hoped Prince Alwaleed will re-visit Uganda and thanked the Prince on behalf of President Museveni, and the people of Uganda. His Excellency also expressed his government’s desire for HRH to invest in the country, and said that the government welcomes the Prince to invest in the hotel sector there.

The Prince had visited Uganda in 2006 and met with the Ugandan President. The President thanked Prince Alwaleed for his visit and commended him on his efforts in helping economic development in Africa, and his humanitarian contributions to Africa through Alwaleed Philanthropies (formerly Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global) that is chaired by His Highness. Furthermore, they explored investment activities that can be carried out through Kingdom Holding Company and its affiliates.

Furthermore, during his trip, the Prince was bestowed the "Grand Commander of the Order of the Pearl of Africa" by President Museveni. The medal was in recognition of the Prince’s support and philanthropic contributions to the country. In 2005, HRH was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by The Islamic University of Uganda.
