Major train delays are ongoing as police operation concludes in Redfern

Commuters in Sydney are experiencing ongoing “major delays” as almost every line was shut down amid a police operation at Redfern Station.

Power was shut off at some lines and there are major delays on all lines except the Southern Highlands line as police line the platform at Redfern.

A trespasser was reported at Redfern Station who was threatening themselves but was of not threat to the public, according to a tweet from Sydney Trains.

While the police operation is now concluded, Sydney Trains said in a tweet that the delays are “ongoing”.

Some lines have recommenced moving since just after midday.

“NSW Police ordered all services be halted and overhead power switched off while the situation was resolved,” police said in a statement to the ABC.

“Emergency services are currently on the scene.”

“Customers are advised to delay their travel or seek alternative transport.”
