Oman helps in finding missing Australian in Yemen

24/05/2017

MUSCAT: As per the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to meet the request of the Australian government in finding its missing citizen in Yemen, the authorities concerned in coordination with the authorities in Yemen, managed to find the citizen with tribal assistance. The Australian citizen was shifted to the Sultanate on Wednesday morning in preparation to return home. This came in a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry. Meanwhile, the Australian government valued the Sultanate’s efforts under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan in finding its citizen in Yemen and transporting him to the Sultanate.

In an exclusive statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Dr Ralph King, Australian non-resident Ambassador to the Sultanate, on behalf of the Australian government and family of the citizen, expressed his utmost thanks and gratitude for the noble endeavours of His Majesty the Sultan and the Omani authorities in finding the Australian citizen, who had been missing since October 2016. The Australian ambassador said that these efforts reflect the noble humanitarian side and the role carried out by the Sultanate in the region under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan. “These efforts also reflect the deep bilateral relations between the Sultanate and Australia,” he added.
