Gaza Is Bleeding — Why Is the World Silent?
Opinion piece
By Dr. Rateb Jneid

Children in Gaza are shivering in tents that leak. Mothers cradle babies against the cold, praying for food, warmth, or even a sip of clean water. Fathers sit silently, powerless, as hospitals run out of medicine and fuel. Every day, families lose loved ones to preventable causes and children grow up knowing only fear and despair.
And yet, the world watches. Where is our conscience? Where is the mercy we claim to have? How can we speak of humanity while turning our eyes away from the innocent, the sick and the starving?
This is not politics. This is human life. Real people. Real pain. Real tears. Gaza’s children deserve safety, food and medicine. Families deserve protection, dignity and hope. And yet, aid is blocked, voices are silenced and promises remain empty.
Look at the child who cannot sleep because the cold bites through the thin tent. Look at the mother praying silently, her face streaked with tears, her heart heavy with worry. Look at the hospital hallway, dark except for flickering lights, where doctors work tirelessly, knowing they cannot save everyone.
We must ask ourselves: if not us, then who will speak for the voiceless? If not now, when will justice be done? Silence in the face of suffering is a betrayal of our shared humanity.
Open your eyes. Listen to their cries. Let your heart feel their pain. And then, act. Gaza needs the world to remember: every life matters, every child matters and every moment of silence costs lives.
