Sydney - Middle East Times Int’l: Father Paul Kazzi announced the approval of the Holy See for the beatification of Maronite Patriarch Estephan Duwaihi in Bkerke – Lebanon on August 2.
Father Kazzi has been seeking the cause of Patriarch Duwaihi for 22 years, and he revealed that “he received a letter from the head of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in the Vatican, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, confirming his readiness to come to Lebanon to celebrate the beatification of the honorable Patriarch Estephan Duwaihi.”
Cardinal Semeraro released a video in which he talked about the importance of the Patriarch’s miracle confirmed by the Pope, which qualifies Patriarch Duwaihi for beatification, because according to the conditions of the Universal Church after his announcement in 2008, “we move today, with the approval of His Holiness Pope Francis, to a new stage, which is the stage of beatification. Today, Lebanon is in dire need of the canonisation of a new saint to spread peace and security in the East.
Father Kazzi pointed out that as soon as a miracle occurs, from the moment Duwayhi was declared blessed on August 2, it is “an area for sanctification, and we pray to the Lord to give us this miracle to be like the miracle of Al-Hardini.”
