Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l: As Mayor I get to meet with members of our community, celebrate the things that make us unique and help our City continue to transform and grow.
Over the last month, we discussed the future of our multi-billion-dollar City in business forums; watched significant developments like the new Metro steamroll ahead; and delivered events and festivals for everyone to enjoy.
As we look ahead to summer, we eagerly anticipate the opening of the new Canterbury Leisure & Aquatic Centre and look forward to celebrating the people who go above and beyond for our community at our upcoming Australia Day Awards Ceremony.

Australia Day Awards 2027 nominations now open
Behind every great community are people who go above and beyond.
From passionate volunteers and outstanding teachers to environmental champions and dedicated community groups, let’s shine a light on those making a difference. Nominate them for a CBCity Australia Day Award in one of the following categories:

The wait is over - CLAC is back!
Get ready to dive in! The brand-new Canterbury Leisure & Aquatic Centre (CLAC) will officially open on Saturday 7 November and you’re invited to celebrate!
Join us from 9am at Tasker Park with FREE outdoor activities and the opening ceremony at 9:30am. Then, be among the first to experience the state-of-the-art facility with FREE entry throughout the day. Doors open at 10:15am!
Come and be part of this exciting occasion as we celebrate our City’s newest destination for health, fitness and fun.
