Kuwait offers financial, food aid for Basra elderly house residents

KUWAIT-- A Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) team visited the house of elderly in Iraq's southern city of Basra and provided food and financial aid.

The visit and provision of aid "is out of our responsibility towards the elderly and how we can provide them with part of their needs," Kuwait's Consul General in Basra Yusuf Al-Sabbagh said in a statement, a copy of which sent to KUNA in Kuwait.

The KRCS team offered 100 food baskets, financial aid, and clothes for the 40 men and women in the house of elderly.

Shamlan Abdulraheem, head of the team, said the visit was part of "Kuwait by your side" campaign, which was launched by the government of Kuwait and supervised by the Consulate General in Basra.

On June 13, KRCS delivered its third batch of food aid to poor families in Basra, consisting of around 5,000 food baskets.
