18/04/2017

WASHINGTON-- Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim met Tuesday with Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Tao Zhang at the Fund's Headquarters.

Following the meeting, the IMF Managing Director told KUNA and KTV that he was very glad to meet the parliamentary delegation from Kuwait, affirming that it was a "very nice" meeting.

He added that the talks focused on the reform program, which the Kuwaiti government started and the "need" to continue these "necessary" reforms.

He affirmed that the Kuwait authorities had a "very good" start with these reform programs and "we agreed that it continues along those lines". Speaker Al-Ghanim is in Washington to partake in the Global Parliamentary Conference, slated for April 17-18.

The Conference is the Parliamentary Network's flagship event and is co-organized by the World Bank and IMF.

It brings together some 200 Parliamentarians from World Bank and IMF member countries and partner parliamentary organizations.
