CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER KEVIN ANDREWS MHR

It is my great pleasure to wish you a peaceful and joyous Christmas.

Christmas time is a season of great joy when we celebrate faith, family and remember the past and look forward to the future. 

The Christmas spirit of peace and goodwill is shared with one another and unites many people from all spheres of Australian life.

Diversity is one of Australia's great strengths and forms the bedrock of the peace and goodwill we all enjoy.

As we light our candles and flick on our Christmas lights, we can also reflect on how Australian society is itself a torch-bearer for social cohesion.

As a nation, we all share responsibility for providing that essential quality of support and welcoming spirit, enabling new and emerging communities to engage and participate fully in the wider community. 

The beauty of this wonderful season is something we all can share together by filling our homes with love, peace and joy.

Over the Christmas period, I hope you find time to relax, reconnect with family and friends and enjoy the celebrations.

No matter how you choose to celebrate the festive season, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
