“Children are our future” Julie Owens opens School building”

Federal member for Parramatta Julie Owens will address Our Lady of Lebanon College on Friday to open of the new state of the art school facilities this Friday at Harris Park.

Representatives from the media are encouraged to attend.

“Education is one of the top priorities of this Government and it gives me great pleasure to help open another fantastic new building for such a great local school,” Ms Owens said.

Ms Owens will speak at the college’s ceremony, opening a $3.2 million multipurpose hall and eight general learning areas.

“This is on top of over $100 million spent on local schools since 2008, the single biggest investment in Parramatta schools in our history”

“Projects like the new multipurpose hall and eight general learning areas at Our Lady of Lebanon College are making a real difference by improving the learning environment of our children.”

Ms Owens will address the audience followed by a blessing from his Excellency Bishop Ad Abikaram of the Sydney Maronite diocese. The ceremonial blessing will call for spiritual, academic, cultural and physical nourishment as students use the building for the new school year.

I’m proud to support Our Lady of Lebanon which for years has served the Lebanese community in my electorate of Parramatta and greater western Sydney,” Ms Owens said.

The college has now been running for close to 40 years, established in 1973 at Harris Park. It has traditionally served the Maronite Catholic Lebanese Community, however its 1200 strong student body also reflects the diversity of the Lebanese people. The School caters for Kindergarten to Year 12 and employs 90 staff.

The Lady of Lebanon College Choir will perform for the 97 confirmed guests including The NSW Leader of the Opposition John Robertson, The Hon Daryl Melham MP and The Hon Barbara Perry MP.
