TUNIS-- Tunisia's Defence Minister Abdelkarim Zbidi urged the need for military cooperation between Tunis and Kuwait as he held talks with a visiting Kuwaiti official here on Thursday.

The two officials met during the first session of joint military committee meetings, Kuwait's Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Defense Cooperation Committee Chairman Gen Mohammad Al-Kanderi told KUNA.

The committee meeting came to a close with the signature of the '2018-19 Cooperation Plan' by the Kuwaiti senior officer and the head of Tunisia's Intelligence, Security and Defence Agency.

Zbidi welcomed the talks, held in the presence of Kuwait's ambassador to Tunisia Ali Al-Dhifeeri, as the foundation for a solid military cooperation between both nations, according to the senior Kuwaiti officer.

During the talks, the Kuwaiti general conveyed the greetings of Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt Gen Mohammad Al-Khodor and Deputy Chief of Staff Lt Gen Abdallah Al-Sabah.

Al-Kanderi also said he was content with the meeting's outcomes on matters of mutual importance, particularly in regards to training and the exchange of expertise.
