MILES Visits Isaac in Hasroun, Hails Lebanese Community in Australia

13 Jun 2018

Lebanon - Australian Ambassador to Lebanon, Glenn Miles, visited "Strong Republic" bloc MP Joseph Isaac, at his residence in Bsharri's Hasroun, in the presence of Hasroun Municipality head and a group of Lebanese-Australians currently visiting the region.

MP Isaac welcomed Ambassador Miles in the district of Bsharri, and stressed the depth of the relationship, respect and affinity of the people of Bsharri towards Australia. The MP hailed Australia's role towards the Lebanese community there.

Ambassador Miles, for his part, congratulated Isaac on his victory in the recent legislative elections, lauding the leading role of the Lebanese, in general, and the people of Bsharri in the process of economic prosperity in Australia.

"As you know, Australia has close ties with Lebanon in light of the number of the Lebanese expatriates- who are more than 400,000, Australians of Lebanese origin- mostly from the north," Miles said.

As a token of appreciation, Miles presented to Isaac a photographer book of the 1940s for an Australian traveler, depicting rare photos of Lebanese towns including Hasroun.
