Islam, Purification and Clean Up Australia Day 2021

2 March 2021

PUBLIC STATEMENT

Islam, Purification and Clean Up Australia Day 2021

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Faith has over seventy branches, the uppermost of which is the declaration: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah'; and the least of which is the removal of a harmful object from the road, and modesty is a branch of Faith.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Based on the above Hadith (Prophetic saying), the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) encourages all Australian Muslims from all states to participate in the Clean Up Australia Day initiative on Sunday, 7 March 2021.

Cleanliness is an essential ritual of Islam and Iman (faith). Our Islamic tradition highly encourages spiritual and physical purification.

In addition to this, it’s important for Muslims to always be positive contributors to the country they reside in.

Clean Up Australia Day is a great initiative in cleaning the streets, parks, roads and our surrounding neighbourhood and a great initiative that brings all Australians together.
