Kuwait nominates Hussein Al-Musallam to head FINA

01/07/2020

KUWAIT-- The Kuwait Swimming Federation announced Wednesday the nomination of its board member and Vice-President of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Hussein Al-Musallam to lead the world governing body of the sport.

Al-Musallam is well-qualified to lead FINA in the coming five years, said head of the Kuwaiti Swimming Federation Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah in a press statement today to unveil Al-Musallam's candidacy.

Sheikh Khaled vowed that the Kuwaiti federation would do all in power to back Al-Musallam and to ensure that he will win the prestigious post.

Al-Musallam is also director general of the Olympic Council of Asia and secretary general of the Kuwait Olympic Committee.

He is a former professional swimmer who represented Kuwait in several regional and international events.

The FINA Executive Council will elect the new president during its coming general assembly to be held in Qatar next year, the federation said in a press statement today.
