BERRI: Lebanon and its Civil Peace Have Always Been and will Remain our Priority

20 Nov 2019

Lebanon - House Speaker, Nabih Berri, emphasized during his "Wednesday Gathering" at Ain Tineh residence that Lebanon and its civil peace have always been and will forever remain his priority.

"The biggest loser yesterday was sedition and those who were fueling it... and the biggest winner was Lebanon and its civil peace," Speaker Berri told his visiting Lawmakers.

Berri said fortunately not a single drop of bloodshed had occurred yesterday, contrary to what "black chambers had plotted for."

The Speaker stressed the importance of activating the legislative work through parliamentary committees, especially the Finance and Budget Committee to discuss and approve the 2020 state budget.

On the other hand, Berri met with Vice Speaker Elie Firzli, with whom he discussed most recent political developments and the content of the US Congress letter to the United Nations.

In response to a question about government formation efforts, Firzli noted the existence of a serious will to seek a solution in this regard.

Earlier, Berri met with MP Jean Obeid, with the latest political developments and the general situation featuring high on their talks.
