EXPO 2020 DUBAI

Dear Member and Stakeholder,

The Government of the UAE are hosting the 2020 World Expo in Dubai from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021. The event coincides with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will be the first World Expo to take place in the Middle East, North Africa, or South Asia.

In support of this, the Australian Government through DFAT has committed $65 million to build the Australian Pavilion to showcase Australia, our culture, diplomatic meetings, our products and our business to business engagement.

As an organisation, AACCI considers that this event presents our members an un-paralleled opportunity to grow their business interest in the MENA region. This can happen in 2 ways, firstly by securing one of the many contracts that are available in the construction, management and servicing of the event and secondly from showcasing your company’s products, skills to a global audience which is expected to be around 25 million.

The UAE government are spending over US$9 billion on this event and their EXPO 2020 team have engaged with us to promote the event. They anticipate hosting 25 million visitors from 180 countries. Their website is
www.expo2020dubai.ae and their procurement portal is https//esource.expo2020dubai.ae. This portal outlines how to access information on the event and the contracts that are available. You can also register your company and provide details of your product services so that other contractors can contact you as and when required if they like your product or services. Grants for up to US$100,000 are also available to specific sectors.

To ensure that the communication flow to AACCI from DFAT and the EXPO is streamlined we have established a sub-committee for the Dubai Expo. This committee will make regular reports to our members to keep you informed of the progress of both the EXPO and the Australian Pavilion and potential opportunities that become available. Our State Executive Officers can also be contacted for information on this event.

We wish you and your company every success in securing business opportunities at this significant event.

Kindest regards,

Roland Jabbour OAM. JPPresident and National ChairmanAustralia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry
