Lebanese Army Commander Meets Senior Italian Military Officials in Rome

Rome - On the sidelines of the Rome II Conference, Army Commander General Joseph Aoun met with the Italian Joint Forces Commander Lanza de Cristoforis Nicola, Air Forces Commander, Major General Settino Caputo, Naval Forces Commander General Paolo Treu, Middle East Operating Forces' Commander Major General Gilles Boidevezi, and Italian Gendarmerie Commander Giovani Nistri.

The meeting was held at the Italian Joint Forces' Command in Rome.

The Lebanese delegation gave a detailed presentation on the needs of the Lebanese army in accordance with the tasks entrusted to it.

General Aoun expressed appreciation of the efforts exerted for the sake of ensuring the success of the Rome II Conference and the ongoing Italian donations to the Lebanese Army. General Aoun also hailed the crucial role performed by the Italian military troops operating within UNIFIL In Lebanon.

The Italian delegation, for its part, commended the national role played by the Lebanese army and its personnel's capabilities. The Italian side also showed significant responsiveness to the Lebanese army's combat needs at the armament, training and logistic levels.
