What Donald Trump’s Diet Coke habit may be saying about his health

Ali Moore

In a world where people are slowly swapping buckets of KFC chicken for homemade acai bowls, there is a man sitting in the White House, drinking 12 Diet Cokes a day.

The confession, contained in a New York Times piece, is vaguely reminiscent of Australian radio star Kyle Sandilands, who earlier this year admitted to "drinking Coca Cola like it was water" and who told news.com.au he drank 30 coffees a day.

"I was almost dead last year. My problem was I'd drink way too much coffee and I was drinking Coca Cola like it was water. Now I've swapped over to water," Sandilands said.

One could argue that at least they are diet, but the reality is that this soft drink is terrible for dental hygiene and gut health, says nutritionist Dr Joanna McMillan.
