Cranes on the horizon good news for Sydney

The Sydney Chamber of Commerce has said that the pipeline of major CBD construction projects is a welcome boost to the economy.

“After a post-Olympic lull, it will be great to see some cranes back on the horizon,”said Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Chamber of Commerce.

“These projects will add to the vibrancy, prosperity and amenity of our city. The construction period won’t be without its challenges, but we are committed to working with government to ensure that disruption is minimised.

Mrs Forsythe said that the unprecedented growth marks a significant turning point for the city.

“There is a growing sense of optimism in Sydney’s business community. We are set for an exciting time.

“The redevelopment of Star City, for example, will deliver Sydney our first five star hotel since the Olympics.

”Likewise urban renewal projects, such as the Frasers CUB site, will create new communities and housing opportunities for thousands of people.

“The Pitt Street Mall precinct is going to change significantly over the coming years and add vibrancy to the city.

“The work planned for the North West metro will further bolster our credentials as a leading global city.

“Barangaroo will not only be a centre of global carbon trading markets, but an example of best practice sustainability.

The Sydney Chamber of Commerce will be working in partnership with the NSW Government to ensure there is an ongoing dialogue with business throughout the construction phase.
