Arab League urges Iran to stop unilateral move on Abu Musa Island

The Arab League on Saturday expressed concern over the Iranian government's setting up of facilities on UAE's Abu Moussa island, and warned against consequences of such a move.
The League called for halting these unilateral measures and to respond to calls to find a peaceful resolution for the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) islands of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Moussa, through direct negotiations or international arbitration.
The UAE said the Iranian government set up two administrative offices in Abu Moussa island. Abu Dhabi called on Tehran to abide by a 1971 memorandum of understanding (MoU) over the island, considering the offices illegal.
Tehran, however, said Abu Moussa was a property of Iran but added it was ready to clear misunderstandings over bilateral dialogue within the 1971 MoU.
