Omani Cultural Days officially inaugurated in Brazil

SAO PAULO: The official opening ceremony of the Omani Cultural Days in Brazil was held at Sergio Cardoso Theater in Sao Paulo under the auspices of Fernando Capez, President of Sao Paulo State Parliament, in the presence of HH Sayyid Fatik bin Fahr al Said, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture.

Dr Khalid bin Said al Jaradi , Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Brazil delivered a speech at the beginning of the ceremony in which he said that there is a direct relation between the Brazilian diverse culture and the Omani, Arab and Islamic culture.

He explained activities of the Omani Cultural Days in Brazil will promote cooperation, mutual understanding and the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Dr Khalid al Jaradi explained that the Omani Cultural Days aims to introduce the Omani culture and its cultural contributions.

Shaikh Hamad bin Hilal al Maamari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture for Cultural Affairs said that based on the importance attached by the Government of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to enhance communication with all countries of the world, the Ministry is keen to extend bridges of cultural cooperation to support all components of the cultural and intellectual capabilities.

He added that the Omani Cultural Days in Brazil carry a cultural message, which aims at deepening the knowledge and strengthening the historical, civilisational and cultural relations, as well as increasing the area of understanding, convergence and dialogue between the intellectual and cultural elites in both countries.

Fernando Capez, President of Sao Paulo State Parliament delivered a speech in which he thanked the Sultanate, represented by the Omani delegation to organise the Omani Cultural Days in Brazil, specifically in Sao Paulo city, which has large Arab communities.

He stressed the importance of such cultural events to introduce the various principles and foundations, which undoubtedly contribute in promoting a culture of communication and achievement of world peace, harmony and dialogue.

Jose Roberto Sadiq, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Sao Paulo said that the Omani Cultural Days in Sao Paulo, one of Brazil’s largest cities, will contribute in introducing the Omani cultural and civilisational heritage and strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. He pointed to the importance of cultural communication between the peoples of the world.

On the other hand, Carlos Leopoldo representative of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praised the remarkable development witnessed by the Sultanate, referring to the visit of the Vice President of Brazil to the Sultanate and the heritage and civilisation monuments in Muscat, Muttrah and Sohar, which they saw during that visit. He called upon the Brazilian people to visit the Sultanate to get closely acquainted with the diversity of civilisation and cultural uniqueness.

Omani Al Majd Glory Group presented a variety of performances, titled “Oman: Heart of Peace” that were highly appreciated by the audience. The performances were interspersed by Omani fashion shows that reflect the different fashion in the Sultanate of Oman.

Later, the exhibitions of the Omani Cultural Days was set to open at “Eldorado” center of the city of Sao Paulo. Those exhibitions will continue till August 8 in the city.

The Omani Cultural Days in Brazil are organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Endowments, the Ministry of Tourism, the Foreign Ministry, the Public Authority for Radio and Television (PART), the Public Authority for Craft Industries (PACI), the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) , Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA), Omani Photographic Society and Oman Establishment for Press Publication and Advertising.
