Sheikh Mohammed meets Princess Astrid

His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai received at the Jumeirah in Dubai on Thursday Princess Astrid, the representative of King Philip of Belgium, who is on a visit to the country heading a 7 minister and 400 businessmen official delegation.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammad welcomed the Belgian princess, who heads a delegation of seven ministers, including the minister of foreign affairs and minister of foreign trade.

The delegation also comprises of more than 400 businessmen and heads of giant Belgian firms and companies.

Sheikh Mohammed praised this royal visit to the UAE which has come for the first time at such a high level, thus reflecting the importance of relations between the UAE and Belgium, and reflects the desire of the two countries in both the public and private sectors to build a broad economic, trade and technical cooperation base.

Sheikh Mohammad stressed that the UAE leadership, government and people are keen to establish humanitarian and cultural links and the formation of economic, investment and commercial companies with various countries and peoples across the globe based on friendship, mutual respect and common interests.

Princess Astrid expressed her amazed at the size and quality of the development in the UAE on more than one level, referring to the infrastructure and how important it is to build a modern state with all the necessities of a stable and secure life such as that achieved in the UAE.

She added that the UAE is considered to be her country's biggest partner in the Arab region where the trade between the two countries is US$7 billion annually.
