Former Prime Minister John Howard released from hospital after heart scare

February 28, 2015

Former Prime Minister John Howard has been discharged from a Sydney hospital after receiving treatment for a heart condition.

A spokesman for Mr Howard said the 75-year-old had gone to the emergency department at Royal North Shore Hospital after feeling a tightness in his chest while playing golf on Monday.

He was later transferred to North Shore Private Hospital for treatment.

The spokesman said Mr Howard did not suffer a heart attack but had blockages in his arteries. He had two stents inserted and was discharged early on Friday afternoon.

Mr Howard was in good spirits and would return to work in his office next week, but would not be able to play golf or do other exercise for about a month, the spokesman said.
