Shaikh Mohammed handed over honouring certificates to 147 male and female employees who were outstanding for two consecutive years in the performance management system.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the honouring ceremony of about 1,460 federal government employees. These employees “exceeded expectations” in the performance management system for 2013.

During the ceremony, which was held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec), Shaikh Mohammed said: “Our march of development in the UAE, led by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, passes through stations and it has times in which we all stand to honour our anonymous soldiers. We sincerely thank and appreciate our sons of the nation and support those who achieved excellent accomplishments for the UAE.

“Your excellence is an excellence for the government and ... for the country. Your successes are successes for the march of our country, and every superior person in his work is a commander and can be a great leader if he teaches others, benefitting society and creating other leaders.

“The biggest successes and achievements are to be in service of the country, facilitating the lives of people and achieving happiness (for) the community.”

Shaikh Mohammed handed over honouring certificates to 147 male and female employees who were outstanding for two consecutive years in the performance management system. Shaikh Mohammed said these employees “deserve to stand on the stage” and be honoured.

He said the “advanced level” achieved by the UAE when it comes to competitiveness and leadership, besides excellence and efficiency in the government, require everyone to double efforts and work as a team with a clear vision to sustain these achievements.

A new approach to work must be adopted, he said, the basis of which should be creative thinking and positive energy.

The ceremony was attended by Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development; Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; along with a number of Shaikhs, officials and federal government leaders.

Shaikh Mansour pointed out that the country’s recent international accomplishments have set a “qualitative challenge” for the officials and decision-makers to continue the march to success.

He said the country has made great progress in the area of human resource development, giving priority to health, education and overall societal development.

The performance management system became applicable at the beginning of 2012 and links individual goals for the employee to the larger objectives of the institutions in line with the federal government’s strategy. The system measures the efficiency of the employees and helps in raising it, thus enhancing productivity by rewarding achievement and motivating employees.
