“World’s Fastest” Elevators for Kingdom Tower in Jeddah “World’s Tallest” Tower
Prince Alwaleed: “The construction of Kingdom Tower continues on its strategic path”
Jeddah Economic Company (JEC) that is chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, announced the selection of KONE Corporation as the vertical transportation provider to deliver the world's fastest and highest double-decker elevators to Kingdom Tower, which will travel at a speed of over 12.5 meters per second.
Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, will be equipped with a total of 65 Kone elevators and escalators including 21 Kone MonoSpace elevators, 29 Kone MiniSpace elevators, seven Kone DoubleDeck MiniSpace elevators, and eight KONE TravelMaster 110 escalators.

In 2013, Mr. Mounib Hammoud, Chief Executive Officer, JEC announced the completion of the piling works and the construction by Saudi Bin Laden Group of the base of the three legs of the tallest tower in the world (Kingdom Tower). This achievement is considered to be the base of works above ground.
In the same year, JEC appointed a British the consortium of companies EC Harris and Mace to provide Project Management services for the Kingdom Tower project in Jeddah.
The contract value is SR 162 million and includes the management of all aspects of the project’s delivery with specific emphasis on the management of the program and cost.
In 2013, Prince Alwaleed visited JEC’s. Prince Alwaleed’s visit came within the framework of supporting the planned work in progress, as His Highness observed the piling works being done by Saudi Bauer Company. Also His Highness was briefed on the construction plans and phases. Thereafter, His Highness commended the project team and urged everyone to continue the diligent work to complete the construction of Kingdom Tower in 2018.
