Emirati adventurer Maryam Salem Al Hamadi has wrapped up a 21-day challenging expedition to the South Pole by raising aloft the UAE flag in the southernmost point on the surface of the Earth.

Al Hamadi, a student of the Higher Colleges of Technology in the Western Region, said her risk-fraught adventure 'From Liwa Desert to the Icy South Pole' aimed to hoist the UAE flag there as ambassador to her country in that part of the world.

She added that she took off from Dubai International Airport on 7th March 2014 to Argentina to join 88 male and female adventurers from 27 countries.

Al Hamadi has paid rich tribute to the wise leadership for supporting and encouraging the youth. 'We are proud of our leadership and our homeland among the nations. This adventure serves as an achievement for every Emirati and Arab girl,' she said.
