TEHRAN — Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hassani, Minister of Information, and his accompanying delegation held an official talks session at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Tehran yesterday with Ali Jannati, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance. The session discussed joint cooperation between the two sides in the field of strengthening the media cooperation. During the session, the Iranian Minister welcomed Dr Al Hassani and his accompanying delegation, hailing the recent visit of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to Iran. He affirmed that this visit represented an important step in enhancing the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in various fields, describing these relations as “stemming from the good-neighbourhood and the cultural ties binding the two countries and the Omani and Iranian people.”
Ali Jannati hailed the facilities rendered for the cultural departments and the Iranian Embassy in the Sultanate through the cultural and media activities hosted by Muscat. He called for the exchange of visits and activities between the music and heritage bands, as well as organising cultural and arts exhibitions. On the sidelines of the visit, Dr Al Hassani toured the Cultural Museum at the building of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and viewed the antique historical portraits. Dr Al Hassani and his accompanying delegation also visited Ettela’at Newspaper, which is the oldest Iranian newspaper. He toured the building of the newspaper and viewed the publishing and printing process.
Dr Al Hassani also took part in a brief press conference during which he answered the questions raised by officials of the newspaper and correspondents of the local and foreign newspapers in Iran regarding the media, journalism and cultural activities in the Sultanate, as well as the media cooperation between the two countries. Dr Al Hassani also met with Mahmud Doaii, Managing Director of Ettela’at Newspaper who welcomed Dr Al Hassani and his accompanying delegation, looking forward for a fruitful media cooperation and exchange of expertise and media delegations between the two sides.
