Greg Pearce removed and John Ajaka become Minister for Disability Services and Illawara

1 August 2013

NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell today announced Greg Pearce has been removed as Minister for Finance and Services and Minister for the Illawarra following a breach of the Ministerial Code of Conduct.

Following a media enquiry today, it became clear that Mr Pearce had failed to disclose to the Premier a conflict of interest in relation to a board appointment.

This afternoon I spoke to Mr Pearce and informed him he would no longer remain on the frontbench.

I mean it when I say I expect the highest standards from members of my government.

Andrew Constance will become Minister for Finance and Services. This is recognition of his excellent work as Minister for Disability Services and Ageing, including oversight of the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The Hon John Ajaka MLC will join the Cabinet

and Ageing and Minister for the Illawarra.

John has worked hard as Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads and thoroughly deserves his promotion.

The new Ministers will be sworn in at Government House tomorrow.
