Oman's Information Minister Reviews Singaporean e-Media Experience


Dr. Abdul Mun'em bin Mansoor al-Hassani, The Omani Minister of Information met with Dr. Ibrahim Ya'qoob, Singaporean Minister for Communication and Information, within the framework of his current visit to Singapore.

The meeting discussed the media aspects in the two friendly countries and aspects of the joint cooperation in the field of media, as well as reviewing the Singaporean experience in the field of e-media.

Dr. al-Hassani and his accompanying delegation paid a visit to a number of journalism institutions in Singapore during which he met with a number of officials and editors-in-chief. The meetings touched on the major challenges facing the print media and the factors that contributed in its development.

He also met with officials of Media Corporate Radio and TV, the owner of Asia News. He viewed the upgrading process underwent by the corporate and its investment experience for the new media. He also toured its various studios.

During the visit, Dr. al-Hassani visited Singapore Media Academy, which includes a number of private institutions concerned with e-media to closely view the work mechanism in the academy and its services and training programmes, as well as the areas of training for the Omani media men.

Dr. al-Hassani, hosted a reception for the Singaporean journalists during which the Sultanate of Oman and aspects that regulate the media work in the Sultanate were highlighted.

The meetings were attended by Zakariya bin Hamad al- Sa'adi, Sultanate's Consul General in Singapore and Nasser bin Humaid al-Khayari, Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Information.
