Omani-Azhari Scholars: Common Grounds Symposium Concludes
Omani-Azhari Scholars: Common Grounds Symposium, organized by Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), was concluded at SQU today under the patronage of Dr. Ali bin Saud al-Bimani, SQU Vice Chancellor.
A number of elite scholars from Al Azhar Al Sharif, the Sultanate, Arab and Muslim countries participated at the three-day symposium at which (28) working papers were presented alongside with panel discussions among the participant scholars.
The final day of the symposium covered the fourth theme titled "Efforts of Omanis and Al Azhar Scholars to Serve the Islamic Ummah".
The symposium came out with a number of recommendations, the foremost of most are sending a cable of thanks and appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for the Royal care accorded to science and scholars, establishing the Sultan Qaboos Chair for Scientific Studies in Al Azhar Al Sharif as it is the case with other Sultan Qaboos chairs, affirming the fact that the Islamic creed form the Islamic one Ummah, documenting the Ibadhi presence by Al Azhar Al Sharif in terms of manuscripts, scholars and their books, teaching the Ibadhhi creed within Al Azhar curricula and establishing a unit for Omani studies at Al Azhar University, similar to the Omani unit at Al al-Bayt University in the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
At the end of the symposium, the chief guest honoured the participants from the Sultanate and other countries.
