Kuwaitis support world's needy people out of empathy -- volunteers

2/4/2010

SANTO DOMINGO-- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) volunteers stressed here that their country always did its best to support people around the world out of sincere empathy with those less fortunate.

Speaking to KUNA, head of KRCS's delegation to Haiti Jasim Qambar expressed joy over the coordination with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Dominican Red Cross on transferring Kuwaiti aid to victims of Haiti's recent earthquake.

All aid societies here praised the Kuwaiti humanitarian initiative to support the people of Haiti, he stressed, and the genuine sympathy it reflected.

On his part, volunteer Hamid Al-Sawwagh hailed the efforts of all humanitarian organizations and bodies currently providing aid to Haiti.

Although the distance between Kuwait and Haiti is vast, the Gulf state was keen on supporting all Haitians regardless of their color or religion, he stressed.

Meanwhile, volunteer Yousef Al-Naqi praised the efforts of KRCS's President Barjas Al-Barjas and his keenness to provide aid to all people in need around the world without any form of distinction between them.

Charitable work in Kuwait is supported by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, he noted.

Another Kuwaiti among the delegation here, Yousef Ashkanani of Kuwait Television, pointed out that it was significant to encourage youths to volunteer and serve humanity.
