Al Baleed Resort opens in Salalah

SALALAH: Coinciding with the Sultanate’s celebrations of the 46th Glorious National Day, Al Baleed Resort Salalah was opened on Wednesday in the Governorate of Dhofar under the auspices of Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed al Rowas, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Planning, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi al Huraibi, Chairman of the Tender Board and a number of local officials.

The opening ceremony included a visual presentation on the facilities of the resort and the construction stages for the project. After the presentation, Al Rowas and the chief guest accompanied by the attendees toured the resort which includes 96 villas of different sizes in addition to 88 private swimming pools and 40 hotel rooms, 30 of which with sea premier view.

The resort also includes sports, health and recreational facilities, in addition to retail shops, Al Hisn Ballroom, three international restaurants and spaces for leisure activities.

The resort, managed by Anantara International is located near Frankincense Land and World Heritage List inscribed Al Baleed Archeological Park. It overlooks the sea from the south and is easily accessible from the main road network in Salalah.

The resort, which is the first luxury villas resort, is designed in a way that are consistent with the cultural and social aspects of the local community. The design also reflects the Omani architectural design features and meet the environmental quality requirements, such as benefit of all resort facilities from solar energy, shade and fresh air.

It should be noted that Al Baleed Resort in Salalah is a 50:50 joint venture between Omran, the government investment arm in tourism sector and Mustier Real Estate, the local partner; one of MB Holding Group. The project, which is a valuable addition to the tourism sector, will contribute to developing the hotel services provided to Salalah visitors.

Omran also seeks to develop the necessary infrastructure to develop tourism sector in the Sultanate and maximise the sector’s contribution to the growth of national economy by ensuring optimum utilisation of the Sultanate’s abundant tourism resources and the Omani rich culture and heritage.
