Oman, Saudi discuss regional issues

NEW YORK: Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, met with Stephane Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The two sides discussed supporting relations of cooperation between the Sultanate and Canada on various fields. They also touched on the latest developments in the Middle East.

The minister took part in the meeting of the GCC Foreign Ministers with their US and UK counterparts at the residence of the UK Permanent Delegate in New York. The meeting discussed the latest developments of the current situations in Syria and Yemen to find peaceful means to end the crisis.

On the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, Prince Mohammad bin Nayef al Saud, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia received the minister at his residence in New York. The two sides discussed the fraternal relations between the Sultanate and KSA. They also touched on several issues and the current developments related to Syria and Yemen.

Within the framework between the GCC countries and the French Republic, the minister took part with the GCC Foreign Ministers in the meeting that was held with their counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault, French Minister of Foreign Affairs. The agenda of the meeting included the political and economic aspects of common concern. Further, the meeting focused on the importance of combating all forms of terrorism. It also discussed means and appropriate solutions for Syria, Iraq and Yemen. The French Foreign Minister welcomed cooperation and economic partnership with the GCC countries to enhance relations and increase investment opportunities.
