KUWAIT-- Kuwaiti Ambassador to Australia Najib Abdurahman Al-Bader discussed with Australian Governor retired General David Hurley means of promoting bilateral economic ties.

A press statement on Monday said that Al-Bader touched on the excellent bilateral ties and discussed means of taking them to the next level.

"Australia is committed to securing the safety and stability of the Gulf region through deploying its army to be part of the Global Coalition against International Terrorism," he pointed out in the statement.

The statement added that the Kuwaiti envoy made an official tour through Sydney and met with a number of Australian officials where they discussed boosting cultural, educational and investment cooperation.

The statement pointed out that Ambassador Bader has held in the framework of his official visit to the city of Sydney a series of bilateral talks with each of the Speaker of NSW Parliament, Hon. Shelley Hancock MP, President of NSW Legislative council, Hon. Don Harwin MLC, Thomas George MP, the Deputy Speaker and Hon. John Ajaka MLC, the Minister for Multiculturalism, Minister for Disability Services, and the Minister for Ageing in NSW, in addition to a number of officials from the educational, cultural and investment field in the state.

The statement said that the talks also covered the frameworks to enhance cooperation in trade and investment under the provision of the right environment for investment, referring to the economic development in the state especially in the field of manufacturing and agricultural industries, technology and renewable energy.

He stressed that Kuwait is one of the most important trading partners of Australia in the presence of many Kuwaiti investments in Australia.

In addition, Al-Bader met with Kuwaiti students and inquired after their educational progress; there are around 1,000 Kuwaiti students in Australia.

New South Wales' capital city is Sydney, which is also the nation's most populous city. In March 2014, the estimated population of New South Wales was 7.5 million, making it Australia's most populous state.
