Australian Governor General successfully completes historic visit to Kuwait

“Productive, historic and successful”.  Kuwaiti Ambassador to Australia Najeeb Abdulrahman Al-Bader

Australian Governor-General Peter Cosgrove left Kuwait after a four-day visit  where he held official talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Cosgrove was seen off  by HH the Amir, HH Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, HH Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Australian Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove’s visit yielded "productive results," Kuwait's Ambassador to Australia Najeeb Abdulrahman Al-Bader said, adding that it had helped enhance bilateral ties.

Al-Bader described the visit as "historic and successful", and that it helped solidify ties between the nations.

The discussions Sir Peter held with the Kuwaiti leadership encompassed a wide array of issues, with emphasis on greater co-operation between Kuwait and Australia, Al-Bader noted.

During his visit, Sir Peter received a visit by the CEO of the Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Naser Al-Sabah. The meeting was attended by head of the mission of honour, Adviser to the Amiri Diwan Mohammad Abdullah Abulhassan.

The Australian Governor-General and his wife also toured the Al-Qurain Martyrs Museum during their visit.

They also visited the Australian College of Kuwait in West Mishref.

They were accompanied by Amiri Diwan Advisor Mohammad Abdullah Abulhassan.
