100th anniversary of opening 1st post office in Kuwait

100th anniversary of opening 1st post office in Kuwait

20/01/2015

KUWAIT-- Kuwaitis have known the postal service since 1775, when it was provided through personal initiatives before officially opening the first post office in the country a hundred years ago, specifically on January 21, 1915 which was located at the British Colonial Administrator's headquarters (Dickson House).

Kuwait officially received on February 1, 1958 the responsibility of the internal postal service, and in the same year, the first stamp on Kuwait had been issued.

In February 1959, Kuwait became an active member at the Universal Postal Union.
