Alwaleed Foundation Donates SR13.5 Million

HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundations, attended the Charitable Gala dinner of the Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) Initiative titled “Plant a Book” that was held in Doha in the presence of HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar and HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifah Al Thani, under the patronage of HH Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of ROTA And HH Sheikh Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al Thani, HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal’s Foundation bided 13,575,000 Saudi Riyals at the auction in support of ROTA “You Can” education project in Pakistan.

The Gala Dinner was held at the Castle of Shiekh Ali Bin Abdulla Al Thani in the capital Doha and was also attended by other VIPS, dignitaries and government officials. The event program consisted of an opening speech and a presentation by Sheikha Al Mayassa.

During the Gala, Sheikha Al Mayassa welcomed Prince Alwaleed and discussed common interests in humanitarian and philanthropic activities and various general issues. Prince Alwaleed has made several donations to ROTA through Alwaleed Foundation totaling SR11 million.

Prince Alwaleed was accompanied by a delegation that included: Dr. Nahla Nasser Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman, Ms. Abir A. Kaki, Secretary General of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundations, Dr. Jihad Aoukal, Private Physician to HRH the Chairman, Ms. Hassna Al Turki, Department Head, Travel & External Affairs, Mr. Hani Agha, Senior Manager Travel & External Affairs and Mr. Fahad Bin Saad Bin Nafel, Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.

The Qataris officials included, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Bin Muhammad Al Thani, Former Prime Minister of Qatar and Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Al Thani Minister of Economy and Commerce, H.E Sheikh Jassim Bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, H.E Sheikha Dr. Aisha Bint Faleh Al Thani, Reach out to Asia Board Member, H.E Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani ROTA Ambassador, and H.E Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al Sadda Minister of Energy and Industry.  

“Reach out to Asia” is a Qatari-based non-profit organization under the auspices of the Qatar Foundation. The organization empowers local communities by providing access to quality primary and secondary education to children that have been affected by crisis across Asia.

In 2011, Prince Alwaleed attended the 4th Charity Gala Dinner “Reach out to Asia” (ROTA) with HH Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al Missned, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation on behalf of HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani. The occasion was also attended by Sheikha Al-Mayassa Bint Hamad, HE President Heinz Fischer, President of Austria and the First Lady Mrs. Margit Fischer. Moreover, Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global donated SR7 million during the occasion for their core operations for the building of schools in rural and poor areas in Asia. In 2010, HRH met with Mr. Ahmad Al-Sayed, CEO of Qatar Holding at the time with an accompanying delegation.

In 2005, Prince Alwaleed made a contribution through Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-global of SR 3,750,800 during the charity dinner ceremony held in Doha to aid afflicted areas in Asia as part of the Helping Hands Initiative for Asia. In 2009, Prince Alwaleed attended the 3rd ROTA Charity Gala Dinner with HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and HH Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al Missned.

Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundations are involved in a wide spectrum of humanitarian and philanthropic activities in more than 84 countries. Their main focus areas have been established around strategic initiatives, ranging from Disaster Relief and Community Development, to Women and Youth Empowerment, as well as Promoting Intercultural Understanding.
