The ministry is sparing no effort for developing technical infrastructure of the Ministry’s sectors, acquiring state-of-art technology, said Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Homoud Al-Sabah in a statement yesterday.

Engineering sector has already been renovated for applying new techniques and technology, said Sheikh Salman, explaining that latest technology will be supplied to the transmission, live-transmission and filming departments. Kuwait Television has executed several projects to sharpen and improve broadcast. Broadcasting and sports studios have been equipped with HD technology. Studio 600 and studio 200 are also fitted with this technology and three stations have been installed and connected to Arabsat and Nilesat, in addition to a backup-one, linked to Arabsat.

The ministry has also acquired an HD mobile transmission station, eight high-definition cameras and a top-technology control room, Sheikh Salman said, adding that first testing phase for the television DVB-T2 digital broadcasting, intended to cover all Kuwaiti regions once concluded, has finished. Minister Sheikh Salman said the department, in cooperation with Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), is building a huge digital TV archive, containing “the six-decade heritage” of the national television service.

Moreover, the ministry has installed a new center, tasked with monitoring and following up on various online and TV programs, namely political news, and relaying such news to the Kuwaiti audience. The radio library is also being transformed and equipped with the digital devices. The old 89.5 studio for classic Arabic music and the FM channel, 103.7, have been upgraded.

Among the other achievements is building two radio stations in the north and south of Kuwait. The minister praised His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, for his support for implementing the renovation schemes with aim of matching international standards in this realm.
